First aid kit

Postby jray22 » Wed May 30, 2012 11:57 am

Hi all,

So, I'm spending about a week trekking round yosemite in the summer, and I've been thinking about first aid. Or more specifically, other than a standard first aid kit, is there anything else anyone can recommend that would be useful? I've been told duct tape is a good substitute for bandages, but any other suggestions will be most appreciated!

Thank you,
Jo

You should get a guide to wilderness first aid to inform your decision of what to take. Whoever told you duct tape instead of bandages is wrong.

Ok thanks I'll look for a guide on amazon. A couple of other people have confirmed that duct tape can be very useful for sprains and broken limbs, and it sounds like quite an ingenious idea to me.

It probably would work for a wrap, but there are other lighter options that won't also remove skin and hair when you tear it off.
