Wilderness Permits for late September

What are the chances of getting a first come first serve wilderness pass for the last week of September? How early should we arrive?

Pretty good, I have come late and still gotten prime Happy Isles to LYV permits. There will be lots of trailheads to chose from. The Happy Isles trailhead will fill up as the day goes on though, and it all depends on if a big group comes in and snags all the permits.
