April Backpacking Trip

I am planning a spring 2-night backpacking trip in late April, hoping to avoid the crowds and the permit waitlist. It has been a dry winter so I suspect snow to be less of an issue this year. Any suggestions on location? I am an experience backpacker - looking for suggestions for early spring suggestions.

You posted under Tioga so I'm supposing you intend to go there. I'd suppose, since it just snowed down to 4,000 feet and a worse storm is due today through Wednesday, that you should wait and see how it goes. It's still winter and we do get enough snow to cover trails in April and May. Tioga Road is still closed and tho it was scheduled to open mid April, no idea if the new snow will keep it closed or not.
