From LV to Yosemite Valley in 1 day?

Looking for the quickest route from Las Vegas to Half Dome Village on August 27. Definitely want to do the drive in one day. Who has advice?

No doubt by driving TOO FAST and not getting caught in traffic on freeways. Google wants you to do the speed limit.

There are no cheats. There are those routes. You get on one, you get on the other, anything smaller and you are on mountain roads that are slower.

Does the East Route go through Death Valley? Or is that not advisable in late August?

Wanting to go fast but sight see? It's out of the way.

Do 115f temps with 80-90f nights sound good? Hope that car doesn't overheat ... It's a nice place to explore when you aren't risking heat stroke to do it. March is generally a good month for that.

I'd take the 95 route out of Vegas, but then go over the Sierra on 120, not 108. The Google Maps result is goofy because it is not treating hwy 120 as open (even though I reported that to them the other day) and showing the 108 crossing instead. Total Google time if Google was treating 120 as open would be under 8 hours. It's much more scenic than the Bakersfield route and over an hour shorter than the 108 route.
