Permits

Postby s004523 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:45 am

Hi all,

I am planning with a friend 12 days in yosemite. I have read pretty much everything there is to about the rules and camping ect. but still have a few questions hope anyone can help. I just want to be doubly sure :-)

1) wilderness permit- does that just mean where you entre the park you have to reserve one. or you have to have one for each trailhead area you entre.

2) if you have a wilderness permit do you also have to reserve an additional permit for the half dome.

thank

You need one wilderness permit for each trailhead you enter. It's good for the entire trip (number of nights is on the permit). You can even enter and leave Yosemite and go to adjoining Wilderness Areas in National Forests on the same permit.

You don't have to apply for (reserve) the Half Dome permit in advance if you have a valid wilderness permit. They will give you one automatically when you pick up your wilderness permit. (According to the NPS website.)
