Twin lakes to Virginia lakes

Postby carlbecker » Thu Oct 21, 2010 5:55 pm

I will be visiting Yosemite for two weeks in the last half of Aug 2011. The last part I will be by myself and am considering two different hikes. Does anyone have any experience with shuttle setup help from locals at either Twin Lakes or Virginia Lakes. I would like to try a four day hike through Matterhorn Canyon and Virginia Canyon. Either way if it is possible to get shuttle help. Paying for the service is not a problem.

give yourself a full day or so and hitchhike from tuolumne. not so much virginia, easier to twin lakes, saddlebag is the easiest, as you can hike up from tioga pass road. you'll get to meet some tourists, probably germans in august, happy to hear your tale until the smell sets in. if money is no object and you want a semblance of assuredness, call a hotel in bridgeport and see if you can't find a kid to come pick you up. but really, just hitch it, a good part of the hike experience
