How about a 5-7 day trip in July then?

Postby ProfessorD » Sun May 15, 2011 4:38 pm

So, the forums here made me conclude that June wasn't going to happen. Too much snow. So, if one were to want to go on a 5-7 day trip in July, and have a blend of solitude, interesting scenery, and a blend of meadows, streams, lakes, and peaks, where in the park would one go?

Red Peak pass is a great option, among the many you can choose from. Can't beat the highest pass in Yosemite, Ottoway Lakes, and the many nameless lakes on the north side of the pass for high sierra views and as close to solitude as you can get in Yosemite. What's nice is you also hit popular features and places too, like Glacier Point (assuming you start there), Merced Lake, Echo Valley, and Nevada Falls just to name a few.

If I were going to do it this year, I'd definitely try for late July though. Better safe than sorry in terms of the snow pack.

That 's a great choice. So is Twin Lakes through Kerreck and Matterhorn Canyons...Benson Lake in the middle.

If you've got a week, there are a ton of great places to see!
