I'm trying to plan a 2 (or 3, though I imagine that'll be difficult with trail conditions) night trip for next weekend. Having backpacked mainly north of 120 in the high country, I'm at a little bit of a loss when it comes to the north and south rims of the valley, which the permit ranger suggested over the phone. Anybody have ideas, or know what's open/passable/etc?
Thanks.

Either of the rims will be do-able - what you'll need to worry about are stream crossings, but I suspect those are do-able because folks are going out there and coming back okay.
There are more camping restrictions on the south rim due to the proximity of the trail to Glacier Point Rd, but the rangers will show you on the map where you're allowed to camp.
