I am planning a backpacking trip for myself and a few friends and wanted some advice. I currently have permits for the Ten Lakes trail for Labor Day weekend but a few of my friends would like to see some of the "staple's" of Yosemite since they have never been and are coming from a distance. I am wondering if I should keep my Ten Lakes permits or change them to either Olmsted Point or May Lake with the intent of backpacking to the valley floor. If I stay with Ten Lakes is it feasible to backpack there and back in 2 days then head to the valley and camp the last night at the backpackers camp near North Pines? I have recently heard good things about taking the snow creek trail to the floor but it doesn't seem that popular. Water is a consideration and I myself would like to do some fishing at some point, though its not a necessity. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

With you permit you can camp in any of the backpackers campgrounds for one night. And there is no reason you have to hike to it. Hike your hike, then spend a day in the valley
