Glen Aulin Trail Condition?

Postby mochipoo » Tue Jul 26, 2011 11:25 pm

I am planing a trip out to Glen Aulin the weekend of Aug5-7. Does anyone know what's the condition like?
Any dangerous water crossing still?
Thanks for your help!

On that route I think you are okay. Meadow is drying out and there are bridges over the river. Water levels have dropped a lot over the past couple of weeks.

I hiked down to Waterwheel falls from Tuolumne Meadows on 1 August 2011. Part of the End of Glen Aulin Meadows was flooded up to knee deep to ankle deep. Going down, I used the fallen trees and zig zagged my way and climbed over some rocks to avoid getting wet...Coming back, I just bombed through it cuz I was already wet from the Monsoonal rain storm. Alot of mosquitos in the meadows, so take precautions. As far as being "dangerous" it was a little of that negotiating those fallen trees, I could of easily slipped and got an ankle caught or something. I couldn't imagine doing it with full gear, as I only had a day pack.
