Falls Ridge/LeConte Falls

Postby Grzldvt » Fri May 25, 2012 12:54 am

After years of coming in the trail side of LeConte Falls, we are going to come on the opposite side via Falls Ridge. Several of us do the DeCelle Tahoe Relay(Running Relay Race around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe) on Saturday and then head down to Yosemite for a trip to Glen Aulin as a base camp on Sunday, then head down to LeConte on Monday and come out on Tuesday.
This year we decided to come in Murphy Creek or May Lake to Falls Ridge on Sunday and then down to LeConte on that side on Monday and then come out on Tuesday.
Any advice?

Why is it that no one ever comes back and reports what they actually did?

I haven't gone yet... This Sunday - Tuesday  Will do a full report with pics In fact the tripod is coming along and I am going to do a ton of HDR shots. So this should get interesting.
Right now the game plan is to go in the old May Lake trail, then cross over to Falls Ridge, before the drop to Ten lakes.

I have no idea what you mean by Ten Lakes from that route.
Sort of sounds like you may have seen my Falls Ridge Trip route from 2 years ago.
(i.e. easily found using google)

Have fun whatever you do

Bill,
Yes, I stumbled across your trip.... Didn't surprise me it was you...You really have scoured some of the more obscure parts of the park and have done a nice job of reporting it.. Take that as a compliment
I will do a full trip report separate from this post. Three of us ran a pretty hard race in Lake Tahoe on Saturday and were pretty wiped out when we got to the park on Sunday morning.
We decided Falls Ridge might be a bit too far in our condition, so we decided to take the Old May Lake trail, and go up to Toulumne Peak.
We followed the trail from May Lake to the Ten Lakes junction(Did a some trail work while we are at it 8) ), then continued on the Ten Lakes trail, where we felt we could go up to Toulumne Peak.

No problem. I've only given you a hard time in the past merely b/c I find all of Yosemite
to be pretty spectacular. There's nuggets everywhere... lots of different things to explore.
It's all good in my chick-on brain.

The route you did is quite nice. I'm sure it was a blast. I was actually overlooking
Glen Aulin on the 27th of May and wondering if you were down there.

Have fun & Take Care

Understood about the comments I have made, we all have areas that are special nuggets and some not so much. It is what makes the park so special and why us of those who have spent an incredible amount of time exploring, have our places we enjoy. By the way I really enjoyed and appreciated our run-in a couple of years ago at almost Glen Aulin. Even though it was only a few minutes,it was great to meet you.
Would be fun to get together with the frequent posters and do a trip together.
