Schaffer Maps - Old Timers

Postby Grzldvt » Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:25 am

For us of those who have been banging around the park for awhile and picked up Shaffers book on "Yosemite National Park"
Check out your map. If it is one of the last paper maps, check out the "Recommended Items For Backpacking" I have one that say Swim Sh!t. Absolutely hilarious. No doubt only a few went out that way, but good for them having a little fun with some obscure text.

Schaffer used to teach geology at Napa Valley College, and he has hiking books on just about every major area of the Sierra.

Now I'll have to go home and check my copy of Yosemite...grin. I do have at least one book by Schaffer that shows a swimmer enjoying a High Sierra lake Clothing optional, so maybe this wasn't a typo--it was a political statement!
Check our our website: http://www.backpackthesierra.com/
Or just read a good mystery novel set in the Sierra; https://www.amazon.com/Danger-Falling-Rocks-Paul-Wagner/dp/0984884963
