Hantavirus & HSC

Latest info on Yosemite hantavirus cases refers to High Camps as well as YV. No surprise, since at least one previous incident was linked to TML. It's a good idea to be aware of this without being irrational:

Had a deermouse hopping around our campsite a few weeks ago, those little guys are quick, and adorable, but also a reminder to be fastidious with the cooking gear and foodstuffs, and camp around open sunny granite, as sunlight kills the virus. Most backpackers would be more likely to catch it from the saliva, would be my guess.

I haven't heard it mentioned in the news, but a housekeeper cleaning out cabins at Convict Lake contracted hanta virus this spring. I guess it takes a magic word like "yosemite" to spread news like this globally. Has anyone else heard of cases of the virus in the sierras outside Yosemite?
