On Saturday Sept. 8, 2012, at the top of Cloud's Rest, I saw the most inspiring sight: a man (described by two witnesses as a 24 yr old with advanced MS) attempting the final 500 feet or so on his own. I was told he had been helped to the top by 8 men taking turns carrying him in a special chair. Once at that point where a lot of people turn away from fear or vertigo, he was helped out of the chair and shakily but steadily made his way toward that amazing view, walking very slowly with the use of two canes or braces - stumbling every few steps but getting right back up. Does anyone have more information on him or the group helping him? I did not want to snap a picture because it seemed like a pretty private, special moment to all involved - hope he made it! As if the summit of Cloud's Rest is not amazing enough, to have seen this in addition was just incredible.
