I've looked everywhere for this answer but can't figure it out.. I got a wilderness permit June 5-7 for HI to LYV. I plan on hiking to LYV on Wednesday night and then up to Hald Dome on Thursday morning. My permit allows me to stay Thursday night as well ( just in case weather is an issue for Half Dome on Thursday morning), but if I end up exiting backcountry Thursday night instead of Friday, can I stay in backpackers campground Thursday night ( technically not night after my permit ends) or should I try to reserve another campsite in the valley just in case we come out of backcountry early?
Thanks for any input an again- sorry if its already been answered!

Yes, you can stay the night before and the night after in the Backpacker's Campground in Yosemite Valley. That also applies if you leave a night early. You can't stay more that one night after the backpack trip.
