Does it look like Tuolumne Meadows is going open up in May? Looking to grab a permit form there on the 20th. Is it possible?

They have to get the snow off the road, and then repair the road. May 20th would be REALLY early. And any new storms from here on out just add to the snowpack

Or just read a good mystery novel set in the Sierra; https://www.amazon.com/Danger-Falling-Rocks-Paul-Wagner/dp/0984884963

Howard Sheckter, the Mammoth Mountain weather guru, is seeing the block that has been keeping the Sierra dry, lift and is expecting Mother Nature to do some catching up with snow levels. I think it is a bit early to predict the opening of the road. Of course, we all know weather predictions!!

The Sequester is keeping park staff in limbo - not sure the road will open in June! park staff have to check it and remove fallen trees, rocks, etc before opening the gates.
