Looking for Clouds Rest campsite west of summit

I am looking for a camp site near the Clouds Rest summit but on the west (Half Dome) side. I know of the sites on the north / east of the summit. I know of the sites close to JMT /CRT @ Sunrise Creek but I'm looking for something higher up on CRT. Are there any legal sites coming down the trail heading west off the summit?

Hauling water is no problem. Digging the toilet and being off trail is more important. Having a view of Half Dome is ultimate.

Let me know if you know what I'm looking for. Any input is appreciated but I'd love GPS cords.

Not sure what you mean. You can camp wherever you like as long as you are two miles from LYV, but there won't be water.

The spring on the way to Half Dome is on the Half Dome trail... water sources between HD and CR are nil. Sunset Creek has some good sites.

Thanks for the input - What I meant most was - an existing fire ring and a flat spot. Again, water won't be an issue. I have a few places in mind but like to have as much info as possible before actually heading out. BTW: higher up = above 8800'
