Quiet Overnight June Backpacking Trip?

Postby captaindee » Fri Jun 07, 2013 9:23 pm

Hi all,

I've been to Yosemite a number of times, but having trouble figuring out what exactly I should do when I go next weekend.

My friend and I are looking for a 2-day hike. We'll car camp Friday night, then we're looking to hike Saturday morning overnight to Sunday evening.

I considered somewhere like Clouds Rest (a personal favorite, though I've only done it in early October). But this time I'd like to go somewhere:

1. With minimal mosquitoes (at least, relative to other hikes)
2. Somewhere a bit out-of-the-way / less traveled / more quiet and wilderness-y (tough on a June weekend, I know)

Any recommendations appreciated!

I'll give you my usual advice for Yosemite: go on the trailheads that most people don't use. Murphy Creek to Polly Dome Lakes, Elizabeth Lake to Nelson Lake, etc.

You can usually get a permit for those...and won't see so many people.
