I changed my mind about hiking to CR in mid September. Looking at Ostrander for a 3 day trip in Mid September. One day in, one chill day at the lake, and one day out.
Any advice on fishing would be appreciated. Also are there bear boxes or do I need to bring my canisters?
I imagine the weather could get pretty cold with a chance of rain and or snow. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Fishing is easy - brook trout just love to get caught. And no, there are no bear lockers at all - you'll need a canister. No fires either with the current ban, and then they won't let you build them in winter ever....
You'll want to be prepared for chances of snow... but it won't be as risky as going later in the year.

I didn't think there were lockers there. But I was looking at the trailhead report page on the official Yosemite website and noticed that 3 of the 11 trailheads on the Wawona and Glacier Point Road specifically stated "no food lockers". Now that I think about it, it probably refers to the trailhead. Duh. Well glad I asked before I took off with no canisters.
I just started backpacking in the last few years. Was always a day hiker but I'm getting older and like to get my kids out with me now. Not sure that its easier but they like to come with me if there is a promise of camping at the end of the day.

Well, they will not issue you a permit if you have no canister....
Have fun out there!
