Hello all,
First off, any update on the fire/smoke conditions for Ten Lakes, May Lake, and Glen Aulin would be very appreciated. Trip is planned for October 5th entry from Ten Lakes Trailhead.
Next, per subject line, I'm looking for some info on the hike from Ten Lakes down into the valley of the south fork of cathedral creek and up past Tuolumne Peak and back down into the Murphy Creek area. After leaving Ten Lakes, with all the dryness this year, is there a decent water source after Ten Lakes before getting to the Murphy Creek area? I guess I'm asking if the south fork of Cathedral Creek is a reliable source right now. Also, some maps show a stream and even lakes on the Tuolumne Peak ridgeline near the the trail. I wasn't planning on any of these higher water sources being available, but if they are it might make for a better night 2 camp spot at higher altitude.
Current plan: 3.5 days, 3 nights
half day to night one Ten Lakes (via Ten Lakes trailhead) - 6 miles
night two Polly Dome Lakes - 12 miles
night three Glen Aulin (with day hike to falls down in the canyon) - 6 miles
final day hike out via May Lake trailhead where shuttle car was left. - 9 miles
