We had a trip planned for TM this thursday to sunday (oct 3-6). Looks like the gates will be closed. Same for any national forests and BLM managed lands. Seems like you need a permit and they are closed so no permits. I guess you can go w/o a permit but risk getting fined or a closed access road. Does anyone have a good 4 day backpack trip that is not on fed land somewhere in the Sierras?

I'm going camping in the national forest.
Nothing to keep me from it....
If you aren't in national forest or national park or BLM - you are on someone's private property. So NF here I come...

Do you know if the national forest allows campfires under 9600'? I believe that Yosemite started allowing them.
