I am thinking of packaging a solar power charger on my next trip? Do you guys have any ideas?

That depends on what you mean by "work." I take one of those Brunton external batteries if I bother with taking electronics at all. Though I've heard solar panels have improved somewhat I've not heard a lot of positive things about them, and I'm not going to leave one dangling on top of the pack to fall off somewhere as things tend to do when you hang them on the outside of a pack. Nor will I be sitting for half a day somewhere waiting for one to charge something.

While not a fan of carrying electronics in the backcountry in this day and age, things have changed and pad(s) and phones seem to be the camera/recorder of choice for many. On the last trip a friend of mine who works at REI, tested this was some success.
