Best map that shows the most trails?

Postby ndwoods » Thu Feb 13, 2014 10:13 am

Reading about that snaffle bit trail got me thinking...
I am closing in on having backpacked or hiked almost all the trails on my map of Yosemite (have quite a bit of off trail under my belt too). But I am wondering if there are some trails not on my map...
I'm not doing this for any other reason than my own fun, but am curious, anybody have really good maps they like to use or that they consider more comprehensive?

Personally, I like the National Geographic maps (no. 206 for Yosemite). Not only does it show a topographic view of the entire park, but it also has blown up portions for Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows. The trails are extremely accurate and follow every twist and bend. The map is quite large, but shows everything from gas stations to High Sierra Camps. It is printed on a very water and tear resistant "paper" and has held up very well. Check it out on Nat Geo's website. http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/ ... -trail-map

If you check some of wherever's posts on the other Yosemite forum, he posts snips of very old maps with trails that are decommissioned on them. Things like Sierra Point are on some of them.

Here on this page, there is the map section: http://www.yosemite.ca.us/library/maps/

Four letters: USGS

ok, 206 is pretty good. Do everything on there including the roads... and you'll find more.
Princeton has incredible old maps.

Zillions of stuff over on yosemitenews.info
Maybe post your query there
