June/July Gear List Help - 6 day wilderness hike

Postby laughter95 » Sat Apr 05, 2014 12:57 pm

I need help on configuring my base weight gear list: http://lighterpack.com/r/9cems2

I'm still missing some weights for several items, so please pardon. It's turning out to be pretty heavy, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to cut weight. I may be able to leave my hardshell jacket and rain kilt at home when it gets closer and I can ascertain the chance for precipitation. The shelter weight will be split amongst two other guys as it is a 3-person tent.

I am going with two other guys over a 51-mile loop around the Clark Range starting from Mono Meadow>LYV>Merced High Sierra Camp>Red Peak Pass>Ottoway Lakes>Glacier Point on June 28. Thanks to Balzaccom, I have a daily itinerary planned out for the loop.

Appreciate the help!

That's not heavy. Heavy is a forty pound pack, and your is 17. Add in the food and you are still going to be under 25 pounds total for a four day trip.

The only place I see clear weight saving is in your sleepwear---do you really need a hoody and long pants to sleep? I sleep in the lightest possible clothing, just to keep the bag cleaner, and that seems to work find. But that would still only cut may be half a pound from your total.
