Yosemite Falls + Glacier Road + North Dome = Redundant?

Postby eorns » Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:21 pm

Hi all!

I'm going to be camping at Crane Flat and Porcupine Flat. Yosemite Falls, Glacier Road hikes (ex. Sentinel Dome/Taft Point), and North Dome hikes all sound great on their own. However, cutting out the Glacier Road area would save me some driving, but I'm willing if it's worth it. Am I missing a lot by foregoing Glacier Road since I'm already doing the other two hikes? If I do that, what's a good alternative along 120 in the park? I'm already planning on Mono Pass and Mono Lake afterward.

Thanks!

It's all worth it. But from Porcupine Flat, I would look at Pothole Dome, Gaylor Lakes, etc....and leave Glacier Point for another trip.

Or just read a good mystery novel set in the Sierra; https://www.amazon.com/Danger-Falling-Rocks-Paul-Wagner/dp/0984884963

Yes, Cathedral Lakes, Budd Lake, and Elizabeth Lake are other options, though Cathedral is too crowded and horse crappy for my taste. For a flat hike, either the Glen Aulin or Lyell Canyon trails are very scenic also.
