My wife and I will be in Yosemite 3 weeks from today, starting our hike from HI. Was wondering how early we need to get started to avoid the crowds on the Mist Trail? I was hoping 8am or so would be early enough, but will gladly start sooner if we have to!
Man, I can't wait!

8 a.m. will probably be early enough to avoid the regular tourists. They seem to start later than that. The Half Dome fanatics will be on the trail before dawn...
But you will meet them all on the way back down...(^:

Or just read a good mystery novel set in the Sierra; https://www.amazon.com/Danger-Falling-Rocks-Paul-Wagner/dp/0984884963

We plan to finish up our hike spending Friday night at LYV and then taking the JMT back down to HI on Saturday, hoping to avoid what I imagine will be a madhouse on the Mist Trail! Fingers crossed!
