The Miwok Village of Ahwahnee is located behind the Visitor Center and
Yosemite Museum buildings in Yosemite Village, Yosemite Valley.
A trail takes you through
a re-constructed Yosemite Indian village of the 1870s.
The largest Miwok village in Yosemite Valley, the village of Ahwahnee,
was once in this area, just to the north of here.
About 200-300 people lived in the village in Winter, then would spread
out to camp sites in the summer.
Signs along the path will introduce you to the structures in the
village and the plants used by Native people.
