I'm going to be in Yosemite next week from May 13-15 and judging by the Yosemite conditions website, the Mariposa road will be closed.
I heard that you can still hike the 2 miles to the trailhead and then an additional mile for the giant sequoias.
However, would I be able to park anywhere around the beginning of the Mariposa grove road?

Yes, there's a big parking area on the southeast of the South Entrance Station for Yosemite. Park there and walk around the locked gate for the Mariposa Road, which begins there.
I doubt if there's any snow on the road--just rock and tree debris.
Current conditions, for the benefit of others:

But get there early. The parking is filling up by 10am and you will have to take the shuttle up from Wawona if it is...
