Plenty of snow in the valley. All of the main valley trails are clear. The side trails are packed down enough from the snow shoeers (how do you spell that) that you don't need any special gear. The valley is blissfully empty, only me and my friend on our loop in upper pines.
Swimming at the base of Yosemite falls is freezing but well worth it, although the walk back to the campsite is rather cold. No bear sightings, just a bobcat and a racoon.

I go swimming every time I go up. My friend is the one who instigated the swim at the base of the falls, I normally do it closer to a warm fire.
