Postby beastieboy92 » Sun Jun 27, 2010 2:07 pm

hello all,

im going to be hiking through yosemite the first week of august for a week. How much, if any, rain is normal. SHould i bring a full rain suit and take up valuable pack space? Or is theresome alternative waterproof gear any of you'd recommend?

You don't need a full rain suit. Just a lightweight waterproof shell (or top). You can wear shorts. The rain tends to be warm afternoon thunderstorms that last a few hours and goes away. Stay off the peaks and ridges during these storms!

I agree. I never take rain pants during the summer months. If I'm just going for a few days and the weather report looks good, I at times, don't take a rain jacket. It doesn't rain for long, and I can always get under a tree for a bit.
