Boot recommendations for a day hiker-must order cuz size 16

Because of size I must mail order & I don't have the luxury of trying them on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Use would be moderate hiker/camper.

It's not a "luxury", it's a must. Different brand boots fit differently. What feels great to my foot you may find miserable.

I just got a pair of Salomon hiking shoes at the Sierra Trading Post outlet in Reno. I usually wear size 12, sometimes 13. But 13 was too small, had to get 14.

I've tried about a dozen boots/shoes through the mail, and have had to return all but two of the pair. Only one was I really happy with.

There must be a place that has size 16 boots in stock? REI? Call around, if you haven't already.
