heading with my wife and 3 kids to illilouette from glacier point in 2 weeks. Can anyone suggest some nice spots in the canyon for camping - and any thoughts on where would be good to avoid the mosquitos. Balzac, I saw your page on Ottaway Lakes and if we have the gas, we will probably try and make it there.
The older kids and I would like to do some climbing on the "off days" where we aren't moving camp. So far, we've identified starr king and merced peak as possible summits. So good spots in proximity to either of those would be especially helpful to know about.

THanks for the kind words!
Once the trail gets you back to Illilouette Creek, just about anywhere along there is nice to camp. We found spots every mile or so...and it's lovely territory.
And Lower Ottoway has great fishing....but beware the Merced Pass lakes. While the Upper one has nice scenery, it cannot compete with Ottoway...and it has no fish!
