Hi, I am planning visiting the area in November and really want to hike Clouds Rest. I would be going from Tenaya lake and straight up and down as a day-hike. Obviously the weather is the major factor here, but does anyone have any experience of this hike in November? I also understand that the Tioga road might not even be open. Any advice or info would be much appreciated.

Check the last 30 years of closing dates on this page:
https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/tiogaopen.htmThe basic story is that the road closes the vast majority of years some time in November, with an average & median date almost exactly at mid-November. Some years though its been October, some December, some January. So, if it were me, I'd plan your trip as early in November as possible and cross your fingers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. That's pretty much what I was planning to do. I can't get there until November 12 earliest, so I'll keep an eye on the weather and hope for a late start to winter! Thanks again for the useful road closure history.
