What a terrible and tragic way to go. Lose your footing, slide uncontrollably for a couple hundred feet in a state of abject terror, drop another 1800, inadvertently force some people to suffer through and endure picking up what's left of you that they can still find, using bags. His friend (who was so traumatized that he needed rescue himself), and everyone else as well, watched the whole thing and, given the reported conditions, it could've just as easily been one of them. One person that died, and the rest left with an image that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
Fulfilling dreams and ticking an item off your bucket list in life shouldn't be what kills you. Be safe, be prudent, think, don't do this to yourself, and maybe even more importantly, don't do it to others, especially those that love you, whether they're there or not. Tragedies like this are so easily avoidable, when it otherwise could have been, and was supposed to be, nothing but wonderful, and they make all of us die a little bit inside when they happen.
