Good morning,
New to the forum, but long time backpacker. I am going to do a quick overnighter, as long as 120 is open in mid June, and had a couple questions that I'm getting conflicting answers too.
1. I will be heading down Porcupine Creek, but stopping by North Dome. I am debating my campsite, but I've heard different things from different people. I would like to watch sunset from Yosemite Point, so I think logically, I should be setup to camp along Yosemite Creek. For those that have been on the north rim in this area, are there other areas I should be thinking about to set up camp that is near the point? I will head out the last day along Porcupine Creek back to my car.
2. I checked about picking up my permit. It sounds like we have to pick them up in person this year. I enquired about the backpacking campground and was told , like last year, it is good for the night before and/or after your trip. However, on another thread, I read that the backpackers campground is uncertain for this year. If so, that completely changes when I leave to pull my permit and start off on my trip. Any advice would be great.
Thanks in advance! I can't wait to get into the mountains!
