I got about 55 miles.
I'd go up HD and Clouds to start. Then over to Sunrise Lakes.
Over to Sunrise HSC... past Cathedral... up Rafferty...
over Vogelsang Pass... and down Lewis Creek to Merced Lake.
Then all the way down the Merced River Canyon.
I calculcated up the Mist and down the JMT from Nevada Falls.

What a great loop. You'll love it. You should have plenty of time
to really enjoy it and do some extra exploring with that many days.

Even though it's late September I still feel the 20 is fine.
Just bring some fleece pants and top. If needed wear those in the bag.
I usually go with 30 and fleece until October. Then go 15.
I don't use the 0 until December. Of course just take a peek at the
weather to make sure some cold front isn't blasting thru.

As for campsites... here are a few:

- Jct. of JMT & Clouds Trail
- First Sunrise Lakes
- Upper Cathedral (above the lake)
- Lower Cathedral (I like by the outlet)
- We love Bernice so we put in the effort and go there
- Just above Fletcher (adds miles tho)
- Meadow area by Lewis Creek
- Just below Merced Lake
- Lost Valley (near the bridges) (I've never camped here but it looked nice)
- Cascade by Moraine Dome

You can camp pretty much anywhere you want ... just 100ft. from
trail and water...
I'll spend the time to find a nice secluded spot with a view.

Have fun!

Quoting bill once again for providing excellent advice.

I just got back last week from a loop starting at Tuolumne, heading up Rafferty Creek, Down Fletcher Creek, and back up Lewis Creek, finally heading back via Lyell Canyon.

I had a 20 degree bag and it was plenty. We had a fleece jacket and thermal underwear for the nights and mornings while we waited for the sun to peek over the mountains.

As far as Bernice being worth the effort, I agree a million %. Of the lakes we stayed at, Bernice was my favorite. The fishing wasn't as good as some of the others, but there was no place more beautiful.

I can't wait to go back.

And very cool Panos Ben. Nice job.
