North Rim Loop in late April

Postby mariopitt66 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 10:20 am

Hey all, I'm looking for some guidance re: a 3 day trip around the North Rim via Snow Creek to Yosemite Falls. I've never been to the park this time of year and I know that Tioga/Glacier Pt., etc. will still be closed for the winter.

Am I looking at snowpacked trails throughout? Will the trail even be open at that point?

Likely camp near Snow Creek lookout and Yosemite Pt.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers,

MP 66

I don't think it is possible because of one river crossing. When I did it this summer the person I was with said they had to turn back at the river earlier that spring because it was so high and fast.

Which spring are you talking about?

I never heard anyone complain about Lehamite or Indian Canyon Creeks.
Haven't been over them in spring but I doubt they are that diff. to cross.
And you can bypass Lehamite entirely.

It all depends on how much snow you are willing to walk on.
Typ in April snow level would be approx 7500.

Go for it. You can always turn around and go back down Snow Creek.
