Introducing Kids to Backpacking

Postby hiker97 » Fri Aug 08, 2008 10:29 pm

I am planning to introduce my young children to backpacking at an early age (they love car/tent camping already). I was thinking about May Lake for its short distance from the trailhead, dayhiking opportunities the 2nd day and HSC toilets. Does anyone have other recommendations for fairly easy High Sierra/Yosemite trails for starters?

These would be good for kids IMO:
Glen Aulin
Lyell Canyon ... flat for 8 miles
Yosemite Creek from YC Campground.
Bridalveil Creek
