Heading out with a group of seven the third weekend in June. Current itinerary is as follows:
DAY 1: Tuolumne Meadows to Glen Aulin to below Waterwheel Falls
DAY 2: Glen Aulin to Sunrise Lakes (via Murphy Creek Trail)
DAY 3: Sunrise Lakes to Cloud's Rest to JMT/Cathedral Lakes
DAY 4: JMT/Cathedral Lakes back to Tuolumne Meadows
I have several questions. First, I've heard there are a few spots to pitch a tent below Waterwheel Falls. Any suggestions/recommendations...?
Third week of June, what's the likelihood of being eaten alive by mosquitoes...?
The biggest unknown for me is Day 3. Unfortunately we have to leave early on Day 4 (want to be back to TM by around noon), so I thought we might make as much progress back toward TM as possible on Day 3.
Any recommendations as far as where to make camp off the JMT...? Will it be too far/too ambitious to make it all the way up and back around to Cathedral Lakes...?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
