Dr. and Mrs. Charles M. Goethe, originators of the idea of a nature guide service for National Parks (from “A 40th Anniversary”) Dr. Charles M. Goethe was a generous philanthropist, but his racist views and support for eugenics have become an embarrassement to some of his benefactors. This issue was reprinted as recently as 1974.
