Yosemite Nature Notes 46(2) (or 46(2A)) (August 1977)

Edited by Steven Medley and Henry Berrey.

Note that there’s two issues with the same number, no. 2: Yosemite and this issue, Yosemite Nature Notes. To reduce confusion, this issue is sometimes referred to as no. 2A.

“ Yosemite Nature Notes, as every seasoned YNHA member knows, was published monthly between 1922 and 1961. Costs finally drove the publication out of existence. From time to time, park staff people have asked ‘Why don’t you revive Nature Notes?’ But they weren’t — until Chief Park Interpreter Len McKenzie suggested to each member of his interpretive staff that an article for Nature Notes would be appreciated, perhaps even expected. . . .”
“Nature Notes Rides Again,” Yosemite 46(1):3 (April 1977)
“Len McKenzie, Chief Park Interpreter and YNHA Director, had an outstanding crew during the summer season. Each of these interpreters has written a short piece — 300-1200 words — on some aspect of the park’s natural history; some are lyrical, some philosophical, others recap serious research. We found each to be enjoyable and to reflect the writers’ deep interest in their trade and the park. . . .”
